About Singapore public holidays

Singapore gazettes 11 public holidays each year under the Holidays Act. The list mixes secular holidays (New Year's Day, Labour Day, National Day, Christmas Day), Christian observances (Good Friday), Buddhist (Vesak Day), Hindu (Deepavali), Islamic (Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji) and Chinese (Chinese New Year, two days) — reflecting Singapore's multi-religious population.

If a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is gazetted as a public holiday in lieu. The Hari Raya and Chinese New Year dates move from year to year based on the Islamic and lunisolar calendars respectively; Vesak Day moves with the Theravada Buddhist calendar; Deepavali moves with the Tamil calendar.

Why holiday-aware planning matters

Conference organisers, regional sales teams and project managers planning across Asia need accurate, year-ahead holiday dates to avoid scheduling launches on a long weekend or kicking off a major rollout on the eve of Chinese New Year.
