Novacon 55

Novacon 55 — the 55th annual British science fiction convention, held in Buxton.
Novacon is one of Britain's longest-running and most cherished science fiction conventions, held annually since 1971 and known for its relaxed, literary, and fan-driven atmosphere. The 55th edition takes place in Buxton, a market town in the Peak District known for its elegant Edwardian architecture and as the home of Buxton Opera House.
Unlike larger commercial SF events, Novacon maintains an intimate scale — typically a few hundred attendees — that encourages genuine conversation between authors, editors, critics, and readers over a long weekend. The programme covers panels, a book room, an art show, and the annual Nova Awards for fan publishing. Novacon has featured virtually every major British SF author at some point in its history and retains a warm, community-focused character that regulars return to year after year.
