The Judo Grand Slam Tokyo is one of the most prestigious events on the International Judo Federation's World Tour calendar and traditionally serves as the season-ending showcase for the world's best judoka. Held at the Nippon Budokan — the iconic octagonal martial arts arena in the heart of Tokyo where judo made its Olympic debut in 1964 — the event carries enormous historical and emotional significance for the sport.
The 2026 edition runs on 5–6 December and attracts the world's top-ranked athletes across all weight categories as they compete for Grand Slam points and prestige. Japan's judoka are invariably the home crowd's heroes and the Budokan atmosphere for the Tokyo Grand Slam is among the most intense in world sport. The event is broadcast across Japan and to a global martial arts audience.
