The 2026 Commonwealth Games returns to Glasgow, Scotland — which previously hosted a highly successful edition in 2014 — making the city one of very few to have hosted the Games twice. The multi-sport event brings together athletes from across the Commonwealth nations, competing across a programme that spans athletics, swimming, gymnastics, combat sports, racquet sports, and team events.
Glasgow's 2014 Games were widely praised for their organisation, atmosphere, and legacy, and the 2026 edition builds on the infrastructure already in place. The event runs from 23 July to 2 August and is expected to draw thousands of athletes and officials alongside tens of thousands of international visitors. For smaller Commonwealth nations, the Games represent their most important multi-sport competition and a vital platform for athlete development and national pride.
